Erasing MS This Weekend!

The much anticipated annual MS-150 bicycle race from Houston to Austin is just a mere two days away! It's a two-day cycling ride organized by the Nation Multiple Sclerosis to raise both money and awareness to this cause- fighting the disease! This one hundred and eighty mile trek is made possible by great sponsors and everyone in our communities who is ready to kick MS right out the door. Hopefully next year there won't need to be a race because a cure will have already been found!

Guess whose participating this year? Tracy Tenpenny's older sister Susan is along for the ride alongside all of the other bikers! Live Music Capitol of the World

With such wonderful concert events hitting up Austin this weekend it was hard to ignore the festivities. Wether you were at Elton John on Saturday or enjoying the 40 Acres Fest on the UT campus, there was certainly something for every taste. But one thing, at least for us, is incredibly difficult...what do you possibly wear? We know that we all want to look a little edgy and/or bohemian, but how can this look of perfection be pulled off without being a complete poser?

The answer lies naturally in your accesories! We suggest layers of necklaces or something chunky. Add a few bangles into the mix and you're ready to head on out the door. This weekend we were rocking the funky Honeysuckle one night and layer of our Diane three strand necklace the second. Give 'em a whirl, you're bound to fall in love!

Oh and a little side note, Tracy Tenpenny Design has recently paired up with Rock Raizer, a non-profit event formed to provide music scholarships for under previledged children in the Austin area. Now that's music with heart!

Enzo & Lola Trunk Show

What's the occasion you may ask? Well this little fiesta will be benefiting Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Austin's Miracle on Wheels whose mission is to bring food, clothing, and ministry to those in need. 10% of all proceeds will go to the great cause.

Plus, there are many occasions that someone in your life will need a new Tracy Tenpeny Design piece soon! Graduation and Mother's Day are both right around the corner, and you don't want to be caught up in the last minute rush. We think that Venice is a such a wonderful to kick off our LA takeover. We love being so close to the beach (which is a complete change from being back home in Austin). "Spring cleaning" is takes on a whole new meaning here at Tracy Tenpenny Design...we're moving! Not far, don't let your little hearts fret. In a matter of two shorts weeks we'll be expanded into a larger space. We have grand plans for our new studio- more room to create, build, rest, play, laugh, dance, smile and shine.

We have a great feeling that our upcoming works of art will be just as beautiful as the place that inspired them. From now on we'll be residing (in the much buzzed about area of) 87 Rainey St. 78701.
Now who wants to see a little tantilizing teaser of the space where our creative genius will be flowing?

Kiss Me I'm Irish!

Next Wednesday, for most of us, is a day for all things green, lucky, and Irish. Yet for us at TTD it's a day for all things Mary (our royal princess of takin' care of business)- our own little lucky charm. Tis her birthday! So both emerald green and a celebration are both in order!

Fortunately we have oddles of green to get the festivities off to the right start (no matter what you're celebrating). Mary's been spotted sporting a simple green Kaleigh necklace with a gold link chain wrapped around twice; and to start affairs off right the (very fitting) Appletini earring. How delcious!

Shimmery and Ever So Blissful

What is our newest obsession? Well besides the lure of spring break creeping around the corner, we'd have to say scarf designer Shimmer & Bliss under mastermind My-Cherie. She creates simply radiant handmade and hand dyed silk works of art for everyone. Both men and women shine in all her collections.

This Tuesday Shimmer & Bliss kicks off their 2010 Spring Launch Party with a little rendez-vous at Beyond Tradition (221 W. 2nd St. 78701). Come check out scarves-galore and try layering them with your favorite TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN pieces. We, personally, think they compliment quite well. You'll be quite fierce. Rawr.

Bopping Around Austin

Soigne Boutique (4800 Burnet Rd. 78756) boasts "Life's Too Short, Love How You Look" as their motto and that is certainly reflected in their store. Mixes of famed designers nestled between local Austin ones makes this store a great shop for all your clothing and accessory needs.

Bee Hive (3300 Bee Caves Rd. 78746) is new on scene, opening just last summer by a UT alum. Everything in this store seems to be affordable, functional, and adorable! It's quickly becoming a Westlake staple.

Unbridaled (701 S. Lamar Blvd. 78704) is "the cure for the common bride". Here owners and buyers blend TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN wedding accessories with simply stunning gowns. It really is a match made in heaven.

Fabrik (12801 Hill Country Blvd. 78738) is a fabulous combination of all things a gal needs while shopping- clothes, art, and water. Yes, Fabrik has a rather famous Waterbar right in the store with about every option for water you've ever heard of (and some you haven't). Blended with a little TTD and this place is quite a treat!

Touch of Sass (500 N. Lamar 78703) is one of the sassier places in downtown Austin (and one of the shiniest, this place just sparkles). They offer us jewels, belts, bags and gifts galore and TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN is certainly among them.

Beyond Tradition (221 W. 2nd St. 78701) is an oasis of gems. The store is packed full of great jewelry and TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN is always a standout among them. You can't leave this store without a trinket or two!

A rags to riches tale

Arriving to my internship today I felt nothing but disdain towards my appearance du jour. With my current negligence to a good hair-washing (it's been snowing out, I couldn't go to class with wet hair and there was just simply no time to dry it) I had no other choice but to wrap a thick Chanel scarf around my head as a best way of distracting and concealing what was happening up top. In my mind, my day essentially was doomed so naturally I had dressed in all black to mirror my emotions. I can be so dramatic.

Naturally, working among so many baubles and treasures I couldn't help but try some on today. And you know a funny thing happened; suddenly I felt my spirits lifted with each item I put on. I felt like no longer were people staring at my rough appearance, but that I might be...dare I say? -cute today! Only to find out that my favorite green and gold necklace was called Coco. Move over Anna Wintour, I'm here now.

Moral of this story you may ask? Maybe it's not you that's so very wrong today (in fact it's likely not). Perhaps it's just your lack of TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN. I personally suggest the Coco (an original award winner), the Krista earrings (named after Tracy's BFF), and a big chunky golden chain (that has a split personality as she doubles as a bracelet).

Making your heart happy

As we approach the final stretch of February's American Heart Month we're celebrating not only with our new and special heart twist earrings but also with the idea that we will continue to follow our heart for the next ten months ahead of us in 2010. Ten months, 2010, Tenpenny...seeing a good pattern?

So we just wanted to take today to remind everyone to breathe, relax, take a me-moment, and be yourselves. Surely the combination will relieve a little stress and keep your heart at ease.

With last night's Grammy Awards still lingering in our head's who else is having a rough start to the busy workweek? Sure, we'll admit, we wanted to be front and center for the Lady Gaga and Sir Elton John duet and stomp with Sasha Fierce; but, alas, we've had to leave our daydreams of floor-length sequin dresses and instead choose a practical, pressed button up. Welcome to reality Monday. But who's to say we shouldn't jazz up our ensembles? TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN has been working hard on their Spring 2010 collection (to be released February 11th at Beyond Tradition...details to follow soon).

This season's collection comes from a variety of inspirations all leading to one big message: put the spring back in your step. Even though you may be working 9-5 there is no reason your jewelry can't suggest that you're on a Caribbean getaway (while stuck in slacks).

RACHELLE + BRITON...a definite "get to know"

Up and coming local Austin-area designer Rachelle McDonald (designing under the pseudonym RACHELLE + BRITON DESIGNS) is our best kept secret...and it's time to let this fierce kitty out of the bag! Tracy has a completely show-stopping coat that have people complimenting her left and right. It's très Chanel! A certain must-have for every closet wardrobe.

Rachelle is a former stylist for MTV whose come back home to her roots to launch her own line. Working with her mom-ager (ala Kim and Kris Karadashian) she's about to explode on the scene. Last Sunday, TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN partnered up with her for a fashion shoot that was unreal. The clothes were impecably made and we wanted to grab them all once the models shed them for their next look. Tracy Tenpenny Design has officially launched into the new world of the blog-o-sphere...how 2010 of us. To give our new followers a whose-who, we're TRACY TENPENNY DESIGN, a local Austin jewelry extrodinaire. Blossoming on the scene in 2006, Tracy Tenpenny pieces are all as special as their unique names attribed to them. Not to mention the couple of design awards we've already added under our belt (toot our own horn, beep-beep).

So our New Year's Resolution is to update regularly and post our fun new designs and all upcoming events. Hopefully this will go better than hitting the gym everyday...
